What are your career goals?
My career goals are:
1. To become a travel pediatrician that works in 3rd world countries
2. To become a useful member in society
How confident are you that your Higher Promise Internship will help you reach these goals?
I am very confident that the Higher Promise Internship will help me reach these goals. First and foremost, the internship gave me motivation to keep on pursuing these dreams that I have been dreaming of since high school. Every single day when I would walk through the halls, I could feel a push and I would feel as if someone was telling me, “Don’t be afraid, this is what you are called to do.”
Secondly, I believe that being a useful member of society can contribute to a wonderful impact. I believe that being in the medical field can positively impact people physically, as well as mentally and spiritually. I want to spread this impact to future patients that I will be working with. Especially since I want to go to 3rd world countries, I want to work with those who do not have the same privileges we have here in the United States.
What has been your favorite part of the internship?
One thing that I have really enjoyed is being able to get hands-on experience. I could do a lot of things that nurses, or medical assistants do. Which is taking blood pressure, pulse, pulse oxy, etc. Nevertheless, I got to build connections while working at Bronson. I got close to my coworkers and my manager even offered me a position to continue working there.
Would you recommend Higher Promise to other Promise Scholars? If so, why?
Yes, I would highly recommend the Higher Promise to other Promise Scholars because it helps people experience working in an area that is related to what they are studying. Nevertheless, it can give you benefits such as networking.
