Elizabeth Smith

Promise Guide

Before joining the Promise Guides team, Elizabeth worked alongside families in poverty, where she developed a strong foundation in advocacy, community support and person-centered case management. Passionate about fostering equitable and inclusive spaces, she brings her commitment to social justice into her work with scholars. Originally from Michigan's east side, Elizabeth moved to Kalamazoo to attend Western Michigan University, where she studied Community Health and Political Science.

Elizabeth appreciates the beauty, nature, and culture of Kalamazoo, and she enjoys spending her free time hiking, attending live music events, and exploring the arts. She also loves to paint and relax with a good movie. Elizabeth is excited to continue her passion for community work by supporting scholars through the Kalamazoo Promise ELEVATE program, helping them navigate their educational and personal journeys.
