Promise Pathway Coach

De’Tavia is a proud native of Kalamazoo, MI as well as a Kalamazoo Promise alumni who used his scholarship at Kalamazoo Valley Community College to obtain his associates degree. He attended Albion College where he studied Communication.

De’Tavia currently serves as the head men’s basketball coach at Loy Norrix High School where he looks to inspire his son Kameron and the next generation of Promise scholars to reach their full potential.

Prior to working at the Kalamazoo Promise, De’Tavia’s work experience included working for other local non-profits, a high school basketball coach and co-founded a youth travel basketball organization called B.E.A.T The Odds.

De’Tavia’s role as a Promise Pathway Coach is very special to him. Working for The Kalamazoo Promise his plan is to educate the students and his community of all the opportunities available to them through education.
